The purpose of the Science Faculty is not only to ensure that students take a strong academic excellence into Upper School but also to look to the horizons and beyond to investigate and understand science in the real world which they, as science enriched young adults, will be a part of in the future.

Newton Moore SHS Science teachers recognise that all students have specific characteristics and unique needs, and our programs are designed to address each individual student to encourage them to reach their full potential.

Science teachers have developed a strong academic program which incorporates investigations into real life issues, helping to develop an intrinsic motivation within students to embrace a relationship with science while questioning, analysing and understanding the science in the world around them. As a result, many students develop an interest in a career that utilises their science expertise.

The Lower School core areas represented are Biological Science, Chemical Science, Earth and Space Science and Physical Science. Scientific Inquiry and Human Endeavour are embedded in these content strands. The science strands are covered and developed sequentially from Years 7 to 10, ensuring each subject is covered in-depth to develop a high level of understanding in preparation for Upper School Science. In Upper School subjects we offer Biology, Chemistry, Engineering Studies, Human Biology and Physics. We also offer Certificate II Aquaculture for students from Year 10 to 12.
